What People Are Saying:

I strongly recommend the 60-Day program for both pros and adult amateurs. That focus on allowing movement through the whole body (the same throughness we want from our horses) and taking time to slow down and feel is so powerful. I always thought feel couldn’t be taught, but I may be changing my tune!.

Grand Prix rider and trainer Amy Speck-Kern, USA

Hi Dave, I am loving the process. Without even trying, I find my hips are swinging, my muscles are releasing and my sitting-trot has become easier and better. I am sitting up taller and stretching down more, with no effort. By doing less, I am really accomplishing more. I ask myself 'how is this possible'. Thank you! Looking forward to the rest of the course!" She has been kind enough to allow us to share this with you, and also added: "I was hesitant to enroll in your course - Feldenkrais methods are so subtle - and antithetical to my personality (assertive) but I am so glad I did. I feel like the classes are like meditation in motion! Thank you." More about Cindy: Cindy is 67 and lives in Maine. After a 40-year hiatus from riding, she came back to the sport. " I did trail riding and Pony Club in my teens. After a 40 years I returned to riding, with a focus on dressage. I have a 12 yo rescued morgan who was feral, and has been in training for the past year - mostly ground work. Last September I bought a 14 yo school master German Riding Pony - who is teaching me the ropes.

Hello, Dave. I have a success story! I began your 60-Days to a Better Dressage Seat this summer (2024) because I obviously want a better dressage seat! I've been riding over 40 years and just in the past couple years dedicated myself to dressage. In 2022 and 2023 I earned my USDF Bronze and Silver Medals on my schoolmaster. I also have a younger horse who had a great start and knows changes, but I was struggling to master them on this horse. I also have a pony who I started myself and am trying to teach her changes. On all of my horses, my changes are easier one way (right-to-left) than the other way (left-to-right), so clearly the problem is me! I find my lateral work is also better in one direction than the other. I have struggled with hip issues in the past and also had surgery on my left leg back in 2021. My goal for the 2024 show season was to earn my USDF Bronze Medal with Distinction on my younger horse. I had earned two scores already (one at First and one at Third) and so needed to earn four additional scores this year. I was able to earn three of the four needed scores early in the season and the final score I needed was at Third Level. Due to timing of shows and issues with smoke (we are in the PNW), I didn't have much practice time before my debut at Third with my younger horse. I hadn't been practicing flying changes with him until I finished Second Level because I wanted to focus on simple changes and really get those down. When we had our Third Level debut, I was mostly winging it, with a high success rate on the easy lead-change side (scoring an 😎 and a low success rate on the hard side (scoring a 3). The lateral work also reflected the same one-sidedness. I started your program right after that show and between that show and the next, which was our state championships and open show, I diligently worked through the program, letting the lessons work for me and trying to not push so hard. More is not better! I noticed a difference in how I felt in the saddle right away. I was able to feel when I was tense in the hips and pelvis. I learned how to soften. My legs felt more even (I've struggled with that my whole riding career). I could move with my horse better. And though the lead changes were still not even, the difficult side did improve. In order to try to earn my medal before the end of the show season (I did not earn it at our first outing at Third Level), I had to cram my attempts into four classes at our second (and last) outing, which had both an open show and our state championships in the same long weekend. Between my first outing at Third Level this season, and the next outing four weeks later, my highest scores improved 5% (coincidentally with the same judge), I earned my personal best score on this horse, and I earned my Bronze Medal with Distinction! Not only that, but the same weekend at Championships we also earned Reserve Champion at Third Level! I am now starting the course all over again and will continue to repeat it, as it was so helpful to me in such a short period of time. It is a great winter project for anyone who wants to improve their seat! What I love about it is that it isn't about doing more, it isn't about getting stronger so that you can muscle your way through your ride. It is actually quite the opposite - learning how to soften and feel into your body so that you can DO less but get better results. I highly recommend this, it is worth the investment! Hi Dave! I have to tell you that after doing just part of Module 1, my horse and I have turned a corner. I can't believe it. I am able to sit the trot and canter so much better. Because I'm relaxing my hips and back more, he's giving me his back. I can feel him pushing with his hind end. I also have never known what some things actually feel like - i.e. "hold the horse with your back" or "influence the horse with your core"... now I do - I believe in part because of your session and my ability to be more aware of my body. OMG OMG OMG I've been riding my entire life - most of it in dressage. This is life changing for me.

Lori Elrod, Adult Amateur Dressage and Event Rider, NY

To all my fellow riders, I encourage you to check this out! Following this program has helped me ride with better alignment and self-awareness. Even better, it has relieved some of my chronic hip and neck pain!

Susan Buchanan, "S" judge, MA

This program changed my seat and riding completely! It helped me go from a second level rider to successfully competing at PSG (on the same horse), in less than a year! If you are looking to have a better seat, better connection and better communication with your horse, this is a wonderful tool!

Kristinann Janishefski

After the 60-day course, which was not physically difficult by the way, I have so much more awareness of where I am in space and what my body parts are doing. I also find it so much easier to influence my horses to straighten them and change their posture. I still have a lot of learning ahead, but I feel like DTM has given me an incredible tool for body awareness and improved riding without getting in my own way by trying too hard. The most interesting thing to me is how little physical effort DTM/Feldenkrais takes compared to something like yoga or Pilates but how much it has helped my body control and coordination. Thanks so much for this wonderful resource-my seat has never been better or more effective!

Kimberly Gothberg, OH, USA

Since the beginning of the course, I feel improvement in every day life and also in riding. In my capacity of feeling, and being aware of what I am doing, I can find a better feeling without just correcting it. With my new awareness, I’m leaving behind my previous habit of just correcting and forcing myself to be as « it should be », and finding solutions so that it becomes right, but without force. Less is more. Big step forward…

Anette Francois, France

I have been a body worker for 30 years and during that time, I also became a Farrier specializing in rehabilitation for the whole horse. I competed at 3 day eventing dressage and trail riding. in 2018 a surgery to my foot left me with a lot of balance issues and stability problems. I couldn’t ride for almost 2 years and then getting back in the saddle was a struggle as I had become completely one sided in my own body mechanics. I want to recommend this course because of the importance of riders also working on themselves to help improve their horses. This course has had tremendous influence in my posture and through that helping me to communicate in a better and non inhibiting way for my horse. Rider biomechanics absolutely influences the horse’s abilities. if we want to help our horse, we must also help our own bodies to be straight and move smoothly and effortlessly. I highly recommend this program!

Christine Taylor, Equine Physiotherapist and Farrier

The Feldenkrais Method has not only helped me out of chronic pain but improved my riding tremendously through reducing tension and increasing suppleness, while highly increasing my body awareness! This course might help you.

Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel

As I’m an amateur jumper rider, I was not sure if the « 60 days for a better dressage seat » online courses could be useful for me. However after only 4 lessons, I’m so so so impressed by the DTM method. I already have two strong images that help me so much while riding: 1)« IMAGINE having a second set of arms. Therefore, imaginary arms behind you ». Very useful for me as I have tendency to roll down my back (shoulder) while riding, and 2) the « imagine yourself making that Y shape and allowing your horses back to come up » so useful in downward transitions, smooth and effortless (trot to halt for the moment). Nothing to see with sitting louder or leaning back 😉 All the thinking behind the method is very interesting, as we often tend to do too much with our muscles… particularly in jumping! I can’t wait to learn more

Mireille Thériault, adult-amateur show-jumping, QC, Canada

“Even after years of chronic pain, I now feel more in sync with my horse than ever before. It’s not magic — but it feels like it.”

Sarah P, Canada

This method makes total sense. It is based on a solid foundation in German classical riding and uses innovate ideas from the field of neuro-muscular programming, more specifically the Feldenkrais Method. Traditionally, longe lessons and school masters played a large role in teaching a rider about feeling and the correct seat. These days, people don't easily have access to longe lessons or true schoolmasters. This is what makes Dave’s work so great!

Cindy Ishoy, Olympic Silver Medalist

In my early work with Dave, I remember really being fascinated by the concept and the feeling of being tall and upright without working hard. Amazing! I was delighted to give up working hard to sit up and keep my shoulders back. His courses have catapulted my riding in a direction that I am very happy with and I am much more supple in my body, both when riding and in my daily life.

Charlotte Jorst

Dave is an expert on schooling riders. He is brilliant in teaching the correct rider’s position in a friendly and positive way and his students have good positions in the saddle - he himself also! I suggest that many of us should use the opportunity to train with Dave. Dave‘s training will make you happy and especially your horses happy. A smooth sitting rider who is swinging into the horses’ movements is a horseman/horsewoman. This is important for the welfare of the horse. The better the rider’s position the happier the horse - and Dave helps his clients achieve good positions.
