Why Riders Love This Series

Before teaching these sessions, Dave shared:

"These lessons will gently recalibrate and improve your whole seat and riding, in a way that only Feldenkrais can! Let’s do these lessons together and see what we can improve!"

Through gentle, precise movement explorations, you will:

  • Improve posture and self-carriage without forcing it

  • Unlock a softer, more stable seat

  • Create ease in upright riding position

  • Find better contact and clearer, more refined aids

  • Release long-held muscular tension patterns

  • Experience inner calmness and centeredness — your horse will feel it, too

How It Works

These lessons focus on breath as the key to better function and freer movement. While the theme is breath, the benefits ripple through your entire body — improving balance, comfort, and coordination in the saddle.

What People Are Saying:

After finishing this last lesson lesson I feel overall more open balanced and upright. Can’t wait to go ride!! Thank you so much. L 🧡 🍁 🧡 Update: The ride was lovely. I had a great plan for my riding session and it went beautifully. There is a calmness I get after your sessions and bringing that to my riding sessions helps me stay centered and focused. Which just makes everything better. Many thanks! L

Thank you Dave for another fabulous series! It has helped me become much more aware of how my body impacts my horse’s unevenness.

Enjoyed the course. I found some interesting uses of the breathing techniques in my psychology practice. I am a Ph.D. Licensed clinical psychologist and treat patients with anxiety, pain management issues and PTSD ( as well as depression and relationship issues). I have also been trained in clinical hypnosis. I have been able to incorporate some of the breathing exercises in my treatment of patients to manage panic attacks and also helpful with insomnia. So not only has my horse benefitted but my patients as well. Thanks again . Dr. Debbie S

I never realized how much my breathing was limiting my seat and balance. After just a few lessons, my posture feels lighter, my aids are clearer, and I’m riding with a calm confidence I haven’t felt in years. Even my horse seems more relaxed and responsive! He instantly felt more relaxed and connected. My right S.I. pain has disappeared, thank you! And I'm no longer tired after third and fourth level trot work, even for longer periods. It is like we are finally breathing together"

I had an injury and began to brace without realizing it — pulling from one side, stiffening in the saddle. These breathing lessons helped me reconnect with freedom in my seat and spine. Now, my posture is like before without effort. My influence and aids are subtle, better than before, and my confidence is back. Highly recommend! Somehow with the injury and new seat problems I developed anxiety about performance. At first I was also surprised, but many things had happened, and after all, I am also only human. Also with the seat problems, the anxiety was never so that others could see it, but I felt it, and so did my horses. The tension came in the way of my focus and changed my feeling. I was always thinking, if only it could be again like it was before. When I told you this “secret,” you said, this is the right course for me. You were right! I am very satisfied, also surprised, and happy. I still do the lessons at home, and before the shows—small or big—I make sure to do also the exercises from your other course. Now I always feel calm, centred, and effective, just how I knew it can be. It feels good, for me and also with the horses, and also the competition remarks agree. I hear some riders use sport-psychologists or hypnotherapy for this, but for me, both did not work. Thank you for your help in Warendorf, and also your easy home exercises with recordings, timely email correspondence, and private sessions online. So glad you were introduced to me—zum Glück! Now I feel very ready for the championship, and for much more. Danke, Dave!"

I always struggled to sit the trot on my big-moving horse. Resetting my breathing made it effortless—my hips suddenly moved with him instead of against him. And the best part, I don't have to think about anything specific when I ride, the "reset works"! Gone are the days of me exhausting myself from trying harder and harder. Less truly is more. My horse’s response was immediate, and my trainer was amazed and asked what I had changed, I think she will be doing your course too. Thank you Dave!

I have always worked on my position, and always will. Like all riders, I've had periods where every horse felt great, and sometimes, not so great. Directly after doing this course: My hips swing freely, my seat is stable yet supple, and I feel connected to my horses like never before. These simple breathing exercises made such a huge difference. Overall, my posture feels taller and freer, and all my aids have more finesse and nuances, including my hands which I would not think would change through these breath lessons. Truly eye-opening."

I was skeptical whether a series of breathing lessons would help my riding, but I trust you so I went with it. This has been a great series. What I noticed was a big shift in my horse's passage. Prior to this series, his passage passage was a little stiff or even hitchy but now, as I have incorporated breathing as we have learned, that is not the case. Whether it is by actively playing with the tools like breathing a certain way, at a certain rate, or by moving my breath OR just the result of doing the lessons - his passage has has gotten so much better! Now he is even behind and using the whole body. It's pretty amazing! I wish you could see our progress. My horse is so happy, and he is becoming more and more expressive. And he is not being pushed into anything - he offers it. Reflecting back on why I first signed up for the DTM zoom classes, my goal was to regain/relearn my sitting trot. I had been a naturally soft and balanced rider. Then age, bad arthritis in my neck, lots of hip probs (resulting in both hip joints now being titanium) turned me into a stiff and awkward one. Yuck. I met that sitting trot goal many months ago. I’m not even sure when, but one day I realized my sitting trot just flowed again. I was so happy with that - but I never expected to get so much MORE benefit! Being in such harmony with my horse brings me great joy."
