When You Change, Your Riding Changes

Riders often describe this work as recalibrating, centering, and quietly transformative.

It can influence comfort, coordination, symmetry, and the quality of communication with the horse.

This is not only about the rider.

A rider who moves with less bracing, less unnecessary effort, and more adaptability changes what the horse feels underneath them.

What if greater harmony began with greater ease?

See — and Feel — What Changes

One of the interesting things about this work is that change is not always where you expect it.

That is why it can be helpful to take simple front, side, and back photos before you begin — and again after you complete the series.

This Work Is Used at the Highest Levels of the Sport

Dave has worked with accomplished riders and Olympians, including Klaus Balkenhol, Anabel Balkenhol, Monica Theodorescu, Kristina Bröring-Sprehe, Andreas Ostholt, Coby van Baalen, Cindy Ishoy, Ali Brock, and Charlotte Bredahl.

Different riders. Different bodies. Different challenges. But the same goal: to become better for their horses.

The Feldenkrais Method® can be experienced through hands-on work, but it is also powerfully taught through voice-guided Awareness Through Movement® lessons — exactly as you will experience in these recordings.

A Careful Word About Comfort

Pain relief is not the primary promise of this course, but many people are drawn to Feldenkrais because they want to move with more comfort and less unnecessary effort.

Eurodressage reported that 74% of riders surveyed at a four-star competition were competing with chronic pain, while 85.4% of non-elite riders over 35 reported experiencing pain.

If you carry stiffness, discomfort, or old compensations into the saddle, you are not alone.

"I have to say I really was amazed! In just short time he took away some of my pain I had in my back. And after he treated me, I could see how my whole body position changed."

Fall Wheel Alignment gives you the opportunity to begin this process at home.

See — and Feel — What Changes

One of the fascinating things about this work is that change is not always where you expect it.

That is why I encourage you to take simple front, side and back photos before beginning Fall Wheel Alignment — and again after completing the series.

This Work Is Used at the Highest Levels of the Sport

Dave has worked with (on) many accomplished riders.  Including Olympic medalists Klaus Balkenhol, Anabel Balkenhol, Monica Theodorescu, Kristina Bröring-Sprehe, Andreas Ostholt, Coby van Baalen, Cindy Ishoy, Ali Brock, and Charlotte Bredahl.

Different riders. Different bodies. Different challenges. But ultimately, the same goal: to become better for their horses.

The Feldenkrais Method® can be experienced through hands-on work, but it is also powerfully taught through voice-guided Awareness Through Movement® lessons — exactly as you will experience in these online recordings.

A Careful Word About Comfort and Chronic Pain

Pain relief is not the primary promise of this course, but many people are drawn to Feldenkrais because they want to move with more comfort and less unnecessary effort. Therefore they almost always experience pain-relief.

Pain among riders is far more common than many realize. Research cited by Eurodressage reported that 74% of riders surveyed at a four-star competition were competing with chronic pain, while 85.4% of non-elite riders over 35 reported experiencing pain.

If you are carrying old stiffness, discomfort, or compensations into the saddle, you are certainly not alone.

"I have to say I really was amazed! In just short time he took away some of my pain I had in my back. And after he treated me, I could see how my whole body position changed." stated Olympic Medalist Anabel Balkenhol.

Fall Wheel Alignment gives you the opportunity to begin that same process at home.  This is a course that Dave's private session clientele are asked to do too.

Below: It takes only a few minutes. Stella-Sabrina Wittek at Team Balkenhol

Meet Dave Thind

Dave is a Grand Prix dressage rider, German FN Trainer A (Level III), and Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner. He brings together an understanding of riding and movement learning to help riders discover greater ease, clearer coordination, and more harmony with their horses.

He works with riders because he understands both the demands of riding and the value of thoughtful, well-guided change.

This course is designed to bring that same careful teaching into an at-home format.

The aim is not to lecture you or push you harder. It is to help you notice more, organize more intelligently, and ride with greater harmony.

What Riders Are Saying

Not everyone has the chance to work with Dave privately, in person or online. That is exactly why these recorded courses exist.

They bring the same learning principles Dave uses with private clients into a guided, at-home format you can return to again and again.

In fact, Dave often assigns this kind of work as homework to support private clients between sessions.

So if you are wondering whether an online course can create real change, the answer is yes — when the work is carefully sequenced, clearly guided, and practiced with attention.

Working with Dave was amazing. Starting with I normally wake up with some stiffness in my back, and I did not the next day!  In my riding, I was able to easily keep my shoulders level, my "shorter" leg now equally long and I easily found my eyes up, much better head-carriage and spinal decompression, giving me a much straighter and more efficient position. I was really happy about this! The first days after our session I thought a lot about my body, but now without thinking about it too much, I still feel positive results but definitely wish to explore more. And an update from one of my international students whom Dave also  worked with, the tools Dave gave us have made it much easier to correct her, and I think the riding is getting better with this! Highly recommended.

- Carina Sholz, German Olympic Squad Rider.

After first experiencing outstanding results for myself and then for my wife, this summer we organized a few clinics with Dave. He taught a group of young riders who were thrilled with the class and the trainers of these girls very happy with the results too. And then we had Dave teach a group class for our Professional Rider's club, and the results and feedback from these top riders (which included Olympians and national team riders) was so positive.  Many of the riders later worked successfully with Dave in private. From Dave's student's themselves to their trainers and chiropractors, everyone is impressed with the exceptional results that seem to be the "normal".  I think Dave will be even busier on his next trip, as there are many riders now eager to work with Dave.

- Martin Stamkoetter, GP Rider and Trainer, Germany

An in incredible experience and so very helpful. It is as though he has x-ray vision of the riders, and horses. Dave is able to see the small problems immediately and in a positive and pedagogical way, he is able to make big improvements with small changes, equally helping top international riders or less advanced ones. The changes are not only structural or for beauty, but they bring out more softness, feeling and better movement in horse and rider. This really works, it is fun, even relaxing.  I am so happy, my trainer too. Naturally I think my horses are also.

- Uta Schmidt, Osteopath and Adult-Amateur, Germany

Why Feldenkrais Is Different

The nervous system can learn. It can reorganize. And with the right information, a better solution can appear without forcing it.

Simply telling yourself to sit straighter, relax your hip, or stop gripping often does not create lasting change.

Feldenkrais works differently. Through carefully guided movement, attention, and variation, it helps you discover new options rather than imposing them.

You are not trying to force your body into a new shape.

You are creating the conditions for easier, more intelligent organization — the kind that can translate into greater symmetry, suppleness, comfort, and feel for your horse.

What If Easier Is Actually Better?

Sometimes what feels difficult does not require more strength or more trying.

Sometimes there is simply too much happening.

Too much gripping.
Too much bracing.
Too much unnecessary effort.

What becomes possible when your nervous system learns what it no longer needs to do?

Not less involvement. Not collapsing. But using the right amount of effort, in the right place, at the right time.

Dr. Hollis Day, (M.D).,

“You have to experience it to believe it. I have first-hand, witnessed and experienced powerful, undeniable and almost unbelievable improvement in both posture and motor function using the Dave Thind Method,” attested Dr. Hollis Day. Dr. Day, who is head of Geriatrics at Boston Medical, is a lifelong hunter/jumper competitor that now trains and competes in dressage. “Dave’s highly advanced knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and how humans learn is something every rider can benefit from,” she added.

Dr. Hilary Clayton (DVM)

“Dave’s classes are interesting, informative and FUN. Each class brings a new level of self-awareness in the saddle and provides us with tools to ride better – what’s not to like about that!,” proclaimed Dr. Hilary Clayton upon reflecting with her own personal experience.

She also said “ I love the DTM focus on the pelvis which research shows is the key to riding success. His lessons will help all of us to reach our full potential in the saddle.”

Christoph Hess on Horse Welfare Using DTM

German Master Christoph Hess, retired from his long-held position as Head of Education and Training at the German Equestrian Federation F.N., says of training horses:

“The most important part of the training of a horse is the training of the rider's position. No rider is able to train a horse properly when they have not trained their seat.”

Balanced, relaxed, and honest riding is difficult — which is exactly why this work matters.

“Dave is an expert on schooling riders. He is brilliant in teaching the correct rider’s position in a friendly and positive way... Dave’s training will make you happy and especially your horses happy.”

“The better the rider’s position the happier the horse.”

— Christoph Hess, F.N. Educational Ambassador

Dr. Lauren Dembkoski Adelizi - Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and Grand Prix dressage rider

“I often recommend this work to patients in my chiropractic practice as a tool to understand where your body is in space and to make cognitive corrections to change how your body moves in space.

Dave is a pioneer in marrying a technique that teaches body awareness to riders.

He is on the cusp of a huge movement that is going to sweep the dressage world, as we better understand how our physical body can be changed through cognitive methods. He has furthered my understanding of the changes that I can make in my body to be a better rider. I strongly recommend that you investigate the Dave Thind Method.”

Stephanie Roy Osteopath D.O.

“With Dave, you will experience an incredible feeling of liberation when acute problems that other trainers have either ignored or have simply been unable to fix are dealt with once and for all.

Even problems that you have been trying to fix for years are quickly remedied, with minimal effort! And like magic, your horse who you thought was naturally heavy on the forehand, crooked, laterally stiff or even slightly off, suddenly becomes light, supple, straight and happy.

Cause and effect; Dave has simply become an expert. You will marvel at how big problems have small and easy solutions.”

Got Questions?

What Is Feldenkrais?

Feldenkrais is a gentle, awareness-based approach to movement that helps you notice how you organize yourself and discover easier options.

Rather than forcing better posture or trying harder, this work helps improve ease, coordination, balance, and nervous system regulation through guided attention and small, thoughtful movements.

For riders, that can mean feeling more organized, more comfortable, and more available to communicate clearly with the horse.
